I am so sorry. I lost a cat in a freak accident in the basement when I was ten. It's so easy to blame yourself. Focus on the wonderful memories you have of her.
I'm so sorry. I still grieve for the last dog I lost; she was so young to die, and there were things I could have done to prevent her death. I know how you feel.
Heidi Louise is running and seeing with two good eyes at Rainbow Bridge with Grandma, Toby, Ivy, Oreo, Baby Freckles, Tuffy, Max, Petunia the goat, Gizzie the pig, your beloved horse, Fancy's Dancer, Tsultry Gaze, Sabrina, Patches, Lady and the Ferrets. I really really believe this and someday I will be with them all again and everything will be wonderful. Heidie had a long full life and felt no pain at the end. Her sickness was making her miserable,always thirsty and hungry, it was ruining her quality of life. We will always remember what a charachter she was, how she loved to dress up and was always the center of attention. I remember standing in front of a restaurant when I saw your car pull up and she had a fancy embroidered sweater on and a birthday hat because it was her birthday and you were picking up carry out. A lot of people went out and got daschunds after meeting Miss Weez, she was always so sassy and full of herself. You gave her a good life. My heart is breaking for Heidi but I can't stand what it must be doing to all of you. How wonderful when I logged on to see if you had said anything to see 35 responses from such good hearted people. It is really wonderful how you are all there for each other. Thank you everyone.
Donna nad I are in the same boat. Even though it was November when I lost the kitties, it still is hard and still hurts. I'm happy that I have the memory of them, but it isn't the same. Grieve anyway you have to or need to, because that's what's going to help you get through this right now.
This breaks my heart. I am so so sorry. Please do not beat yourself up at what you did or didn't do in the moment of crisis. NO ONE knows what they will do under those circumstances and your panic was a natural response to seeing a beloved pet terribly injured. I am so sorry.

It's so hard to lose a pet. I lost my cat last year and I still cry when I think about her. Try to remember all the good times you had with her and know she had a happy life with you.

Ashley and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my best childhood dog last May and remember the pain you must be feeling. I saw this sign a few months ago: "Heaven is where you go to spend forever with all of the dogs that you have loved" ... and for the first time, his memory gave me hope instead of tears. I hope it does something for you as well.

I am so touched that your mom and even Mr. Ashley commented. I know they love you and you know the Chaws love you too (Jodi too :) ). How is BK taking this? I know he is such a sensitive little soul. If you need any help explaining this to him let me know. I have a list of books for kids that help explain death. Oh Ashley I am so sorry. This sucks big ass huge ELEPHANT (a goat just doesn't cut it in this situation) balls. You and your family are in my thoughts. I wish we lived closer so I could give you a hug. :-(

ReplyDeleteNothing I can say that hasn't already been said - my deepest condolences to your whole family (you, Mr. Ashley, Big Kid and E-Bull) as it was patently obvious Ms. Heidi Louise was and will always be a beloved family member. Know that those who do know you and those of us who only know you through the 'net are with you and your family and giving/sending you mountains of love. The words that everyone has expressed but the especially touching ones from Mr. Ashley and your Mom will bring you comfort.

I'm so sorry Ashley. It's a terrible thing to have to go through. We lost one of our dogs suddenly about a year ago and I know how difficult it is. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

ReplyDeleteAshley and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my best childhood dog last May and remember the pain you must be feeling. I saw this sign a few months ago: "Heaven is where you go to spend forever with all of the dogs that you have loved" ... and for the first time, his memory gave me hope instead of tears. I hope it does something for you as well.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear about this Ashley. Its all I can do to keep from crying after reading Mr. Ashley's and your mom's post. It breaks my heart to hear about your loss. I know how hard it was for me to lose my kitty and even though its been a couple of years it still hurts. She will be forever in your heart and your memories.
