Happy Birthday America!

July 4th

I know I'm pretty vocal about my disgust with the current political state of things, but have no doubt about it, I am proud to be an American.

I'm also eternally thankful for the brave men and women who serve our country. Regardless of my opinions on this war, these people signed up for the dangerous job of protecting our country, knowing that their own lives were at stake. That's heroism, right there.

Just as heroic, and not often applauded, are the families who are missing them. Seriously, God bless military wives and mothers! When I was pregnant with little kid, I was shocked by how many women would be delivering and caring for their babies on their own, due to their husbands being deployed. That's bravery! They make enormous sacrifices to support our country and they rarely get the HERO label to go along with it.

So let it be known, Ashley loves our troops and all who love them. I love America and I love freedom of speech.

So, let's all get drunk and go play with fire to celebrate!! WOO-HOOOOO!

  3. Happy 4th! Thank God that we live in a country where, even if you're dissatisfied, you can freely voice your opinion. God Bless Our Troops! God Bless America!

Just remember, we can vote out our president every 4 years if they fuck us over too much!

We have it better than most.....be thankful!

  6. Thanks so much for saying that. You would be surprised how hearing, or reading, that can make someone's day.

  7. Me and the family unit have gone beyond fireworks. They come in from far and wide (most look like ZZ Top, some just appear out of the woods virtually from nowhere) and we have a family skeet shoot. Lot’s a shot guns and whatever weaponry (heavy artillery) is handy. I was up late making booby prizes for the losers of the contest last night. Happy 4th.

  8. I may not like every everything our president does but--------- the alternative last time would not have been good. We still live in the best country every. Happy 4th!

  9. Ron, that actually sounds like fun. I'm generally anti-gun in a major way, but somehow that seems like good clean fun on a drunken fourth of july.

  10. Thanks I really appreciate you saying all of that. As a Military wife (and sister - my bro is in) it's not very often that people realize it's not just the soldier that sacrifices. My son will be celebrating his 2nd birthday without his daddy who has been in Irag for 14 months today. It is VERY hard sometimes but I wouldn't have it any other way. My husband is doing his job and without men and women like him we wouldn't be free at all. It takes a specail person to be a soldier. God Bless America and our Troops!

Don't tell the non-commenters, but I secretly hate them.

(kidding, kidding, I don't hate all of them. The shy ones are okay. The lazy ones suck though.)
