Lily loves them and is super gentle and careful. Murphy is not allowed anywhere near them because he seems a little too excited and impulsive about the prospect. I don't want nugget to really become a nugget.
Here is a tidbit I learned on the Food Network today -- You can tell what color eggs a chicken will lay by looking inside their ears. If her ears are white she'll lay white eggs. If her ears are brown, she'll lay brown eggs.
Don't know if its true or not, but let's roll with it.
I once had a dog who would mother every little creature we brought into our household. From puppies to kittens to wild baby rabbits, if it would let her, she would mother it. I bet Lily is very protective of her little wards.
Okay -- cute, but I was always so sad when our chickens hit this size. Adorableness officially over and teenage gawk in full bloom. I forgot it came so quickly!
Lily gets along with them? I would be a little nervous...she doesn't chase them?

ReplyDeleteDo you need a rooster for the hens to lay eggs? Such a city girl question. When are they old enough to start laying?
ReplyDeleteYea Murphy sounds like the type to want to nibble on the nugget:)
