Ant Agonize

Today Big Kid was fighting with the little kid when he screamed, "Mom, you better do somefing about him or I'm gonna run away!"

"You're going to run away? Where would you go?"

"Far. Like, da middle of nowhere. Somewhere he can't get me. I'm finkin' Texas."

Trying not to laugh, I responded, "You're moving to Texas?"

"Maybe. Dat way he can't ant-agonize me anymore."

"Did you just say antagonize?"

"Yes. It means when you're bein' really annoying, like he is!"

"Good word. I've got friends in Texas, you want me to see if they have any room?"

"How 'bout you dest make him be good? Instead of me movin' all da way to Texas?"

"Moving would probably be easier."

  1. Tell him we have just as many annoying people here. Explain the concept of "the devil you know".

  2. Ashley,
I have never commented on your blog before but I just wanted to say that I am so appreciative to have your funny insights and commentary to read. Thank you for sharing your life with complete strangers. You make me smile and I never miss a day (gee, do I sound like a stalker?). Oh, I have 3 boys (the first 2 are almost exactly your boy's ages) and I think little kid and my 2.5 year old were cut from the same pattern. Thanks again!

  4. My sisters kids, all the way. Man, they are funny. I think the speech problem makes it even funnier.

  5. That's awesome! I caught my eldest with his hands around the neck of the youngest. He swears it was the little guy's fault though. "He made me want to choke him!"

Funny, he makes me want to choke SOMEONE too...

  6. I'm going to agree with you on this one. It would be easier for Big Kid to move to Texas than to have little kid leave him alone. In fact, the latter would be down right impossible!

  8. Where does he come up with these words? I am most impressed that he knows the meanings and uses them so appropriately and has no idea how funny it is to hear (or read about) them coming out of his mouth.

  9. Well at least he realizes that to get away from little kid he's got to go somewhere FAR lol...most kids run away to the neighbour's house or the park down the street...not big kid he's going to Texas!

  11. Hey, I'm in Texas and I love me some Big Kid. Wanna trade? You could see what it is like to have a girl.

  12. Hmmm.... explain to him that 'everything's bigger in TX' and that includes attitudes from little kids! ;)

  14. I was just going to suggest Gretchen's place. If he's up for a little ice skating and shoveling, we'll take him in Minnesota.

Don't tell the non-commenters, but I secretly hate them.

(kidding, kidding, I don't hate all of them. The shy ones are okay. The lazy ones suck though.)
