While my parents were somewhat overprotective, they definitely raised us to be independent.

Anyway, I used to work in recruiting for a private consulting firm, and we did a lot of college recruiting, hiring recent graduates and the like. In the three years I was there, we saw more and more often parents who would call US about their "kids" resumes or interviews or job offers (or lack of offers). It was absolutely astounding to me, and I'm still in my 20s!

We had parents who asked that a copy of offer packages be sent to them, parents who wanted to MEET their kids new boss, who wanted to COME to the interviews. It was completely out of control. And these were students from top tier, prestigious universities! My parents are lucky if they know my boss' name!DCKatehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11851601417655261523noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5148811199743801438.post-85958628460178844702008-11-12T00:31:00.000-05:002008-11-12T00:31:00.000-05:00No kidding. And that was definetly ...everyone needs a down day! And that was definetly a good post! I completely agree, why are we so scared all the time? It's madness! My Dad taught me to ride a bike with no training wheels i.e.--he pushed me down the big hill from our house and I crashed, I was humiliated and I was mad, So I got back on, did it again, until I made it down the hill by myself. My Dad taught me to swim i.e. he literally threw me in the deep end. Of course he came in after me, but he made me learn to kick and move my arms to swim correctly in the deep end, none of this touching stuff and i was swimming good in two days. Extreme? Maybe. But it worked and Im not afraid to try things on my own. Except kill spiders. Could never get over those.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5148811199743801438.post-22604251792701589842008-11-11T10:13:00.000-05:002008-11-11T10:13:00.000-05:00http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/weird/Chicks_Gone_Wild_...http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/weird/Chicks_Gone_Wild_All__National_.html

Dammit Ashley, are these your chicks??

Sorry couldn't resist.Mariehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15397000420692626687noreply@blogger.com
