Today I Learned

Today I learned that little kid can reach the very top shelf of the cup cabinet if he's really determined and has a bar stool.

Today I learned that little kid can open child-proof tops.

Today I learned the number for poison control and that they are very nice.

Today I learned that if you're a child you get a private room instead of one of those bullshit "hall beds" for your E.R. visit.

Today I learned if you drink an undetermined amount of Children's Benadryl, you will be lying in the hospital for hours for observation.

Today I learned that even an overdose will only barely slow little kid down, and only very temporarily.

Today I learned that little kid still cannot be trusted long enough for me to shower.

It was a very expensive shower.

Benadryl should not taste that good.

My kids ask for it as if it were a treat. That just seems wrong.

Oooh, Ashley I'm sorry this happened to you!
In my PICU I take care of little ones that do stuff like this all the time. They don't usually do quite this much to get to it though. But you are DEFINITELY not alone and you should be allowed to pee and shower without living in fear. Have you seen those medicine safes that take a key? You might want to check one of those out. Though, little kid will be out of this phase someday. I hope for your sake it's soon!

Also, completely off topic and I don't know why I was thinking about this today. I was wondering about your crazy neighbor lady. The next time she makes comments about you renting, perhaps you should say something about yes, it is a shame you're renting since it is so much more expensive than buying. But you needed to check out the neighborhood first. You're still not sure.... And, how is she coping with all of recalls on her Lexus? Isn't that a Toyota and aren't they very dangerous now? And what will she do when they don't have any more replacement parts for her Lexus because of the disaster in Japan?

Wow - glad he's ok! My daughter asks for medicine all the time - she loves the berry flavored motrin.

eEK. I am sorry. I was once the cause of my mom's expensive shower when I drank a glass of carpet cleaner, that I still maintain to this day that it looked like a glass of coca-cola. I am now 29 and still feel bad about this...Glad he is ok!!

Oh my! Glad he's okay. Remember, showers are so overrated.

Oh my god, that must have been terrifying for you! Little stinker. I've got a climber as well, and a bar stool is his method of choice. I really miss the days before he could walk. I was a lot cleaner then. ;)

Benadryl should NOT taste that good--he thinks it's delicious.

Christine, I actually got roped into watching The Stalker yesterday because The Lexus wouldn't fit all of the children she had to take to the movies. Interestingly, her husband, a VERY hard-working higher-up with an important job who is surrounded by millionaires....drives a minivan. Wouldn't you have him leave you the minivan at least for the day if you had to take 4 kids to the movies?

Katie, how the hell did you drink carpet cleaner? That couldn't taste good!

well of course it didn't make him sleepy, it is LK afterall :)

just start making notes and when he is old enough to start asking for an allowance hand him the bill to remind him how much he owes you:)

oh and I hear Suave makes some stuff you can spray on your hair to make it look clean, seeing you won't be taking a shower anytime soon this might be a good thing to look into :)

When I was little my mom told me the pink aspirins were 'Rainbow Brite Pills" bc I refused to take them when I was sick one time. Next thing you know I'm better and climbing on the toilet to eat some Rainbow Brite Pills. Ha! Glad yours turned out okay too!

You gotta really watch the smart ones. Masta Max when he was 3 got out of bed in the middle of the night, went to the kitchen, got on a chair, stuck a popcorn kernal in his ear and then woke me up screaming. Good times in the ER... So glad LK is ok. He brings back such memories. Kerry

Oh no! Remember the days of showers when the kids were strapped down to exersaucers or jumpy chairs or bouncers? Ah...the good ole days. They need to make a new version of those for the "older although not less dangerous child".

I'm glad he is okay.

When my oldest was a mere 10 months old, he managed to open the dresser drawer where we kept the children's Tylenol and down the bottle. I stuck a toothbrush down his throat while holding him over the sink and he puked it all back up. Nearly three years later I am still shocked that I had the presence of mind to do that. And I still don't know how he found that Tylenol so fast, either.

I'm finally checking back, and I"m cracking up! Ashley, I definitely would have had the hubby leave the minivan. That makes absolutely no sense... what did she do with the kiddos on the other end as she was shuttling back and forth? She obviously isn't too smart. More reasons for you to feel superior! :D
