Re-Homing Adopted Children

You all know how I love a good long article.

This Reuters series about "re-homing" children was so unbelievable that I was almost late for work at the yoga studio today because there was no way I could wait to finish it. It's a series and each piece was excellent.

And here's a related article.

I had to go through more effort to get my kittens than these people went through to get kids.

I cant even bring myself to read more than a snippet of the series. My heart breaks for all of those innocent children who were abused and taken advantage of. I hate knowing the terrible things that happen in this world, because I feel so helpless to change anything.

I started reading this article yesterday and after watching the video interview of the young woman who's adopted father said he would pick her up in a couple of years..my heart broke. The cruelty of the human race is beyond my comprehension. I wanted to hug/love all of these kids.

I read both articles.
I just can't believe the amount of abuse and neglect one couple can perpetuate.
How have they not been held responsible. Why has this happened so many times?
The biggest thing that stuck out to me is how much our mental health system is failing. I don't condone the actions of those that disrupted their adoptions at all but it was obvious that at least a few of them had looked for other resources first only to be refused or required to jump through a series of hoops that never seemed to end with the care they were looking for.

I read this yesterday too. It made me so, so sad that these children are treated like puppies.

Unbelievable. I couldn't stop reading either!

The fact that so many parents are able to adopt children with severe emotional disorders is just one facet of the problem. (Not that these kids shouldn't be adopted, but that they are NOT kids that just anybody can parent, and special training should be happening). Unfortunately, many government-run institutions for orphaned children in other countries only foster emotional issues and perpetuate the cycle.

It took me a few days, but I read the whole series. It breaks my heart to think of these children just being abandoned to whatever random person is available to pick them up the fastest. I think it also shows a big problem with adoption, where people feel so desperate because they can't get the help they need and want for their kids.

Thanks for posting that! I had read part of them but they had not finished the series. Off to read the rest.
