LOL Oops

So, I've had big news for you all that I've been delaying because I misplaced the camera card that has the photo on it.

I'm going to be an aunt.

I was going to announce it by showing you all a picture of the most darling, teensy tiny, leopard printed ballerina flats with pink trim and a pink bow.

That's right--a niece.

After the initial shock of it all, we were all so excited about having a little girl in the family! Yeah, yeah, I had a moment of "I want a girl, not fair!" but then I saw those little leopard print shoes...and a lifetime of opportunity to buy adorable girl stuff without dealing with the full time drama and heartache that daughters can bring.

Kenzie Nicole. Due in August.

This morning my mom called, excited about going with my brother and his girlfriend to an ultrasound.

She just called me from the bathroom, urgently hissing, "What I am about to tell you is not an April Fools' joke. Okay? I'm not joking about this--"

"What? Tell me," I said, semi-worried and curious about the urgency and hissing.

"Kenzie is a boy. She is definitely a boy. Your brother is practically doing cartwheels down the hall while his poor girlfriend is sobbing. I'm in the bathroom and must go back out there, but I'm not joking. Bye."

LOL.

While I can certainly sympathize with the girlfriend, finding something like that out on April Fools' day is pretty hysterical.

And I'm going to have a nephew!

OMG that's got to be so sad for the mom and just confusing! What better day than April Fools to completely mess with someone's thought processing!

Is this the evil girlfriend or does he have a new one?

congrats on being an aunt! my brother swears he's not having kids, but he also swore he'd never get married, but that's happening in 2 months.

This is the girlfriend that (ahem) rented my condo. BUT--we are passed all of that now that she's carrying offspring.

She is now the sole-rescuer of the family name, too! And she's making a new person for little kid to play with. Good stuff all around.

I do feel terrible for her today, I know it would absolutely kill me. It's just funny since it's April Fools' Day. She'll see that one day.

That is really funny. I was terrified that the ultrasound would be wrong. When she was born, rather than my first questions involving whether or not she had all her fingers & toes I kept asking "It's a girl right? She has a vagina right?". It's not that I didn't want a boy I just didn't want a boy who would be stuck wearing the plethora of pink & bows I had bought.

Kenzie Nicole - I like that! They can save it for next time. :) How long did they think they were having a girl? Poor thing. I'll bet your brother is thrilled though. Men and their sons.

Congrats on being an Aunt! This post reminded me of a friend who went into labor last summer with her 2nd girl. Only the girl came out and was actually a boy! They had PINK everything! The carseat he went home in was pink, the nursery was pink, blankets, bottles, hats, everything pink! The funny thing was that daddy had to do all the shopping in the early days for blue items as Mommy was recovering at home with her baby boy! Too funny! Better your brother find out now then later right?

Hubs was so not conviced Abby was a girl for a little while he even made others watch and give their "professional" opinion.

"professional" because one of them had three daughters and hubs was sure he would know what a vajaja looked like on an ultrasound:)

hippy_at_heart - I was the same way with my 1st girl. I was so scared that the docs were wrong about her being a girl that even when she came out and the doc said, "It's a girl," I looked to be sure he was right before celebrating!

Ashley - You future SIL could've had it worse. She could have found out in the delivery room! Now, that would be heart-breaking!

I'm in the same boat as your future-SIL now. I just got the devastating news that I will be adding a boy to my brood in August. I sobbed, too. A lot.
