Black Stallion Hell

I decided to just keep little kid home today and send him later in the week in undies with the seat, and sent her an email telling her the grand plan. It is probably true that if she's willing to bake him cakes every week, she'd be willing to help him get on the potty a few times a day.

So, now that he's home, I'm being forced to watch the Black Stallion DVD. Like I am EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. he stays home and sometimes on weekends if he can talk me into it.

It's an early 90s television series with Mickey Rooney and some zit faced kid and it has got to be the queerest show ever. Seriously, it's comical without meaning to be.

little kid loves it. He gets his cowboy hat and boots and sits on his Radio Flyer spring horse with his lasso to watch it. He begs me to take him to a "horsey race". He sings the theme song. He laughs at the jokes. He has seen every episode (there are 2 DVDs!) at least 30 times.

The target market for this show was probably 9-11 year old girls, so I'm surprised that he's so hooked on it. I am also soooooooooo, sooooooo sick of seeing it.

My kid got hooked on Pippy Longstocking for a while and still asks for it. I explained that she went back to Netflix to light up the life of a young girl - the target audience for that show as well. The songs on that movie freak me out almost as much as the odd voice-over work from the Dutch original. I think they have bad taste in tv and movies just to keep us off the couch and away from the tv. It gives us time to blog!

And I thought I had it bad with my sons' addiction to the Dinosaur television series DVD. You can only hear "Not the mama" so many times before you start poking your eardrums out.

It has to be better than Elmo in Grouchland. I wish I had a dollar for every time I've heard "bue bankie".....

Thank God she outgrew that one.

lmao!!! I used to watch Black Stallion when I would wake up in the middle of the night with nightmares. Used to put me right back to bed. lol

And I loved Pippi! It was the first movie I ever watched that 'tugged at my heartstrings,' if you will.

BTW, kudos to little kid for the potty training!!! You Go, little man! :-)

Oh wow. I'd never heard of it so I went to Youtube to see if I could find it. All I saw was the opening credits and even from that I can see exactly what you mean about the unintentional comedy--i.e., the kid feeding the horse hay with his teeth. And the horse's name is "The Black?" What a stupid name.
