Daycare Potty Time

little kid has been doing surprisingly well at potty training.

He really has his eye on the prize--a party at Walmart on Thursday involving an ice cream cone and the purchase of a Batman toy.

But he has school tomorrow, how do I deal with that? I feel bad making her deal with it, but I also don't want him reneging on our deal or anything. It's a home daycare and on Mondays it is usually only him, her almost 2 year old and a 4.5 year old. He doesn't take long and hasn't had any messy accidents yet, but it would be just my luck if he did on her watch.

Any home daycare providers out there who can tell me how it's done? Hardly seems worth $30 to deal with a day of potty training someone else's kid (but it hardly seems worth $30 for dealing with someone's kid all day to me anyhow).

He goes 8:30-3:00...do I send him in diapers or with undies and a potty seat?

I would go with undies and potty seat!!!

Have you talked to your provider about it?

I used to do home daycare and would just follow the parent's wishes. I do the same thing now as a preschool teacher.

Good luck!

Go Little Kid!! That is great he is doing so well.

When i was potty training my son, I sent undies and a potty seat. Oh and extra undies and extra pants.

My in-home daycare lady was all about trying to help with the potty training!

Well speaking from experience I keep a girl for guess what? $30 a day and yep I am trying to get her potty trained with I think not as much support from her parents and I thought because she is making no progress. She will be 2 in a couple weeks and my dd was completly trained at this age already.

Her parents were all about it but now they have a baby and I think they are not finding as much time to work at home with her. SO I have only been putting her on there 2x's a day since I don't want to spend my life in the bathroom.

If you have been doing undies at home send him in undies I would hate to reverse any progress you have made-I am sure if she loves him enough to bake him a cake she can sit him on the pott a few times:)

Hey, if she has an almost 2 year old, she can do "dual" potty training. All 3 of my kids were potty trained by the age of 2, and our home care sitter was a big part of it. She had those potty chairs lined up in the bathroom and had a wonderful schedule, she was just as happy as I was to get rid of those diapers. I think the diaper companies have brainwashed us into thinking we have to wait til the kids are "ready". When I see kids talking and they're not potty trained I just figure the 'rents are to preoccupied to make it happen. My theory is, if you wait too long the kids get too smart and use the potty to bargain and plot. Good luck!

Undies and potty seat if that is what he is doing at home. Most child care providers are pretty laid back about the potty stuff.

Lots of undies and his seat. Pull ups or diapers would be sending him the wrong message. YAY for Little Kid!

Same as Maggie!

if she has one that's almost 2, she might be happy to use lk as an example to her child, like "oh, don't you want to be a big kid and use the potty too?" it could actually help her out a little!

My professional opinion??

Ahem.

Undies, a potty seat (if she doesn't already have one) AND diapers (just in case). Potty training isn't that big of a deal. She can do it...and it sounds like she loves lk and is a nice lady and probably won't mind at all.
