Day 3: Shred

Day 3 of the Shred has been postponed due to my inability to even lower myself safely to the toilet seat due to extremely sore muscles.

I'm pretty sure I might be dying. Mr. Ashley says I'm not but he's not a doctor, so that doesn't make me feel a whole lot better.

So are you just practicing peeing standing up?

Just go soak in a LONG hot bath BK is at school and you can always duck tape LK to a chair or something

OK so I was joking about the duck tape, kinda. how about crazy glue?

My sister is doing it also. She hates Jillian. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger and all that crap..

I had the same problem after 3 days. I could hardly walk down the stairs. My solution - well I didn't have one.

Don't be a wimp. You know what they say; no pain, no gain.

Yeah, I'm sitting on my fat ass as I type this. There is no way in hell I would even get past 2 minutes of that video.

Hope you're feeling better soon!

What you need is a good massage. Call one of those massage therapists with the portable table that comes to your house and makes you feel better.

"They" say if you push through it and go ahead and work out that it gets better.

I'm not sure I believe that.

I applaud you for even starting. Most of America just complains about being out of shape but are too lazy and/or unmotivated to do anything about it (myself included, most of the time). Take a day of rest if you need it, but DON'T GIVE UP! There's nothing that says you can't make it a 31 (or more) day system. I promise it will be worth it in the long run.

I'm afraid that people that say "Work through the pain" have not suffered the torture that is the 30 Day Shred. I couldn't lower myself to the toilet seat after the first day and it only got worse after that. Do you have stairs in your house? I suspect you can't walk down those either. Don't try to push through the pain. Give yourself a couple days to rest then go at it again. It won't hurt nearly as bad when you start again.

I wrote a very nasty letter to Jillian Michaels on my blog earlier this week. I think you might find some comfort in knowing you're not the only one dying.

Feel better soon!

So, I have just found your blog and today will be my 4th day of the dreaded 30 day shred. I feel your pain... yesterday (my day 3) was awful I could barely raise my arms to do the stupid boxing exercise and forget about being in the half squat at the same time. I will tell you that I am not as sore today as I was yesterday - something for you to look forward to!

I too felt AWFUL yesterday morning and had to drag my sorry butt out of bed..(rolling off the bed because I couldn't sit up). Anyway, the ONLY reason I didn't skip day 3 was because it has been my experience (way back when I was an athlete in great shape...prior to the babies) that day 3 is ALWAYS the WORST...and that I needed to TRY to push through. That's not to say that I didn't walk down the stairs backwards and I did the modified version of EVERYTHING, and I even took breaks of more than 5 seconds during the push-ups :-) But I did do the workout knowing that it would help break up the lactic acid that had me SO stiff/sore/cramping... I made it, reluctantly, but by last night MOST of the soreness had disappeared. This morning...day 4 was MUCH easier than any of the first 3 days. I am still doing the Level 1 workout and will do it at least till next Monday. But I have to say, that I didn't tire QUITE as easily as I had previously. And I'm not nearly as sore this afternoon. Good luck!

Been there many times with the Firm. It's so miserable that I don't know why I quit doing it knowing how painful it will be to start up again.
Hang in there!

I've been doing it for a week now. I had been doing varying levels on my elliptical 5 days a week for 3 months prior and this kicked my butt. Keep it up, seriously once you start moving the muscles work themselves out. I did take off "day 6" and the next day wasn't "as" bad. I can already see an improvement in my stomach area.

If Mr. Ashley has not Shredded, he cannot speak. My husband did it. He's never mocked me since.
