Shred

Against my better judgment, I was cruising around Amazon.com around 1am when I decided I needed to buy something (because that's what always happens when I go to the Amazon site, and although I know this, I like to pretend I'm just looking and then some sort of buying emergency comes up and sure enough I've bought something. They make it way too easy, prime shipping, credit card on file. I can hardly be blamed.)

Just then the Flirty Girl workout infomercial came on and I decided I'd buy that. (I don't know why. I really don't.) The reviews sucked and I realized what a totally ridiculous idea this was, but came across the Jillian Michael's 30-day Shred video which got glowing reviews. Most of the reviews said it was hard and although I hate stuff that's hard, I bought it.

After I bought it, I found myself thinking that I'd better not mention it to you all in case it sucked and I didn't want to do it for 30 days, and then I realized how completely counterproductive it was to set myself up to cheat before my order confirmation had even come through.

So, I'm telling you all. Reluctantly. I'll also keep you posted. No promises though, remember when I tried Master Cleanse? Yeah. This could end up being 12 straight hours of me bitching and then 15 minutes of me convincing myself it's okay to quit.

I DO want to tone up. I DO want to look better in (and out of) clothes. The new school year seems like a good time to start, little kid and I can do The Shred together. So stay tuned for more news on that. We'll hopefully be starting on Monday.

Maybe I will do this with you. I have the DVD and have been putting off starting (for too long). Keep us posted how you like it!

Ohhhh, I would very much like to have people doing it with me. That's always good, then we can encourage each other and/or convince each other to quit. Everyone get their Shred videos and let's try to start on Monday. Pretty please.

Oo, check this out: http://www.healthytippingpoint.com/2009/04/my-review-of-30-day-shred.html

Besides your, hers is the only blog I read on a regular basis. She seemed to really like it, I've noticed every now and then she'll go back and do a workout from it. And I think you can see a big change in the muscle tone in her pictures.

I would LOVE to try it out. Maybe I'll look into getting a copy.

It is hard! I've done it sporadically and every time I am dying by the end. (Probably a sign that I should do it more often!) The workouts are pretty short, which I love.

I too just bought this dvd, who can beat $6.99 on Amazon!? Its great and the best part is, only 20 min for each work out! FYI, you will need light handweights (like 5lbs each). Good luck!

I bought one called "10 Minute Trainer"... Like a month ago. Still in the box. But does it make me weird that the reason I wanted it is to get in shape in case I ever meet Eric Bana? I need to set more realistic goals.

I have it and it is wicked hard. I just did it again this morning (after taking time from it and doing other workouts instead), and it kicked my butt!

Good luck and can't wait to hear what you think!

I have this! And although I've totally been unmotivated lately... and finding it easy to blame my 60+ hr work weeks on why I don't work out... the truth is, it's hard and I'm busy. But this is 20 min!! I don't do it everyday... but I aim for 3-4 times a wk! GL!!

Oh, and reading thru the other comments...even though I haven't done it religiously for 30 days... I've been doing it for prob 4-5 wks and I can tell a difference in my tone! :) yea!

Oh man!! I have this, I do this...this SUCKS, but I love it! I have blogged about it also, she will kick your butt! Give it a shot, I think you'll like it...hate it, but like it.

I bought it, and then found on demand on the tv. I do it from there but I only did it two times!

But for 20 minutes you might cry at the end. It works you good.

I have to start back!

I think that when I get pain on Wednesday I will also join you in doing it! I'll be a little behind but I will be able to catch up hopefully!

I have this too! And for sure kicked my ass...the first time I did it I was--no joke--sore for a week. Yes a) that is how out of shape I am and b) how rockin' this DVD is. I love it...I've done it 4 times and had it probably 6 months, but it's great I promise!! I just suck at commitments that require me to do a lot of work.

I've seen that before, but I'm not a fan of her. She's kinda mean.

Jillian is a total lesbo, but if you can get past her manliness, it's a good video. I also reccomend Body Bootcamp with Bob Harper (whom I'm also convinced is gay, but whatev). Both great workout videos. Good luck with your quest!

I'll sit with a bowl of ice cream and watch you all do it. Okay, I'll swap the ice cream for ice water. Will I still get some benefit from just watching the video? Osmosis?

I have it, too. I've done it on and off for, oh, say 8 months and still can't get past level 1. And still haven't lost a pound. Actually, I've gained a few.
That said, I do like it.

Good luck. That video kicked my ass. Like in a loll around the house the rest of the day in a state of PTSD way. The next day I couldn't walk, so I just watched the video. Which totally counts.

Oh yeah Ashley! The Shred is awesome. There's a lot of JM devotee websites on line and the call themselves "shredheads" so check them out too if you need more motivation. I don't know if you read my blog on a regular basis but I've recently lost 63 pounds. Much of that is due to the shred, the month I was doing it faithfully, I lost nine pounds and that was after already losing 50 before I started it so yes, it works. Just so other people know, I was able to find it on Comcast "On Demand" under the exercise TV area. Don't know if it's still there... have fun shredding!

I have it! I sprained my ankle two days after I got it, so I've only tried it once. It's hard from what I hear. You've made me want to pull it out again!

yeah whatever, the real question is WHERE ARE THE KENT OSBORNE PICTURES? I really cant believe you haven't showed us. Did he really send pics? Will we ever see them? C'MON!

I did the Shred for about 3 months straight before getting preggo and I totally saw a big difference in my abs! (and there's still a little leftover in my upper abs, and I'm 7 months preggo!) If you stay committed to it (not gonna lie, it's killer at first!) you'll love it!

well, okay then - but you have to show us the 'before' so that we may revel in the 'after'.

Do you need me to post my 10-days-after-starting photos to motivate you? That video KICKS ASS. I've been doing it for almost two months. I was in size 6 shorts easily after the first 10 days, and now they're loose on me. The girls on the board are all over it, and they are seeing major results. I'll blog with "after" photos in another couple weeks. The Shred is like a religion with me at this point. Do it!!!

Bought Shred after reading your blog...started it today...WOW...I'm a former college athlete..now a 35 yr old mom of two (3 1/2 & 2)...this is THE BEST 20 minute video I've ever tried...I'm totally going to do it for at least 30 days..LOVE that it's only 20 minutes...my girls can usually be distracted with a dvd of their own for that period of time without destroying my house!! Thanks for the idea.
