Big Kid: You know dose kids in da carts?
Big Kid: You know, wif da wheels, da chairs dey sit in?
Ashley: Oh yeah, wheelchairs?
Big Kid: How do dey ride in dere carseats? I don't see how dey get da chair in da car.
Ashley: Oh, that is a good question. They take the child out of the seat, fold the chair up and put it in the back.
Big Kid: I see dat one boy ebery day gettin' in his car and he rides in da front, not eben in a seat.
Ashley: Well, I don't know. I guess they decided that was the easiest or safest thing for him. I can't really say without knowing them. You know, sometimes children in wheelchairs have a hard time and sometimes kids treat them differently or don't want to be their friend, and that's really sad.
Big Kid: Mom, he's dest ridin' in a chair. Dere is nothin' wrong wif dat. I'm not talkin' about friends, I'm askin' you about how dey do carseats. Dat's pretty silly to fink people can't have friends 'cuz dey ride in a chair. (giving me a dirty look)
dat Big Kid is so kwute.
He always makes me smile!
Gotta love the logic of children.
He's right, you know!
He's so smart. :)
I luv da Big Kid stowies...dey make me happy :) Tanks Big Kid.
I mean seriously...how dare you stray from the topic.
I love how little ones just don't even think about stuff like that. He is so darned cute...and smart as a whip!
Big Kid is so cute and you gotta love how things are just so simple for kids. They don't bring all the baggage that adults have into situations. Your doing a good job with him Ashley!
I envy his innocence and good nature.
What a sweet little boy!
I wish everyone thought like Big Kid! What a wonderful place this world would be!
It never fails to make me smile when you quote in Big Kid talk... he's such a cutie and so smart!
My daughter & I had a similar discussion. She also didn't understand why people would be mean to them. Isn't it wonderful that we have the "good" children. My son wants a wheelchair for Christmas b/c the kid on Little Bill has one.
ahhh...he's so cute!
I really love that kid! I think he's going to change the world someday...assuming his attitude remains the same about his fellow humans.
One of our nannies used to say about Shark Boy, over and over, "That boy's got so much sense!"
But Big Kid beats all. He's loaded with sense.
Big Kid for President!
He is so sweet. I know he will stay that way. Most kids learn their prejudices from their parents. From my experience, it is the parents that don't want them to be friends with certain people. People aren't born ignorant, they learn it.
He is lucky to have you as his mom, so you can back him up on what is right.
I really really love when Big Kid "talks" for us...he is so stinkin cute. He makes my day :)
Out of the mouths of babes....
perhaps we should be asking Big Kid who the heck can help this country, huh?
melody had the same reaction when i tried to explain to her why it was considered rude to talk about people's skin color.
Amen to that Big Kid! Can you run for office please? I'll vote for you. Big Kid for president!!
I like the title to this post. It's nice to see someone focus on what someone CAN do, instead of what they CAN'T. I wish Big Kid could tell some adults to have that same attitude. What a sweetheart!
