Happy Stuff

I feel bad for my depressing post and it made me realize that I forgot to share some really good news with you all:

CATFISH IS HAVING A BABY.

Yay! YAAAAAAAAAAAY! Yay! Yay! Yay!

I swear, my brother's baby and Catfish's baby are my two little shining beacons of hope and happiness lately. I LOVE thinking about new babies. To know that such cuteness and excitement is right around the corner absolutely thrills me.

We all know how I love baby name talk. My brother is going with Ethan, which I love. Catfish is looking for a unique, old fashioned name. She has a fantastic Irish last name that will look good with just about anything. My favorites for her are:

Ruby
Evangeline
Harper
Eva
Miranda
Sophie

I'm 97% sure she's going to have a girl. I had a dream that she had a baby girl and named her Sunny. It would be more fun for my boys if she had a boy, but it would be so much fun for me if she had a girl.

For boys for her I like:
Alexander (if I have another, it's going to be Alexander Cash or Alexander Atlas--I know Atlas is a little ridiculous, it's a new fixation of mine and luckily, I probably won't be having another)
Jacob
Brewer
Milo
Elliot (Eli)

I'm pretty much out of boy names honestly.

Okay, your turn. Tell me your favorite names and maybe the closet can name Catfish's baby.

I love Marlo or Merrill for a girl.

Congrats to Catfish!! When I have a baby, I'll name it either Nathan or Anabelle. I have always loved both!

My son's name is Ronan. Different but not weird. :)

I adore Sophie. I don't know why, I always have. I also really like Eva.

My future daughter is Evelyn.

How about Sadie or Victoria? Lillian or Lily, Grace, Ellie, Alice. I donno. But I love old names.

My grandma is Bertha, how 'bout that one? (*cough*)

I also really love Milo. I wish I could name my son, but the s/o has chosen to name him after his late father, "John". Which is thoughtful and nice, but not quite spunky enough for me. But I'm no good with boys names anyway. I do like Gabriel. And Ben. Everyone (literally, every male in my family save two - Noah and Doug) is either a variation of William, James, or Terry. Plus grandpa Herschel. Who is married to Bertha.

Yay for good news...and babies!

The girl name we loved but never got to use was Cassidy Elise (nn Sadie).

The boys names...well, we used three but I still like Declan, Kelvin, Pascal, Simon, Eliot and Lucas. (Eliot for T. S. Eliot, thus that spelling.)

I've always thought Roman was a kick ass name for a boy.

I guess I haven't been reading your blog long enough because I was VERY confused about a catfish and your brother having a baby. Lol...

I love new babies too. Ahhh. Just thinking about it. I like Audrey for a girl. I tried to get my cousin to name her little girl that because it was her (other) grandmother's name and her little boy was Austin and I thought that was cute together. Alas... she names her Alexis. Totally not as cute to me.

Harper would be lovely. Good pick.

because I said so said...

I like Hudson, Briggs, Miller, Deacon, Smyth and Tyson for boys

I like anything but Emma, Emily, Madison, Britney, Olivia and Abby for girls....almost (and those only because my 7 year old has no less than 2 girls with each of those names and 4 with the name Olivia in her classes and afterschool program, not because I don't like the names, just too common)

Oh, please pick Murphy! It's a classic Irish name, but too bad it's your dog's name too. I love that name for a kid.

Congratulations. Love babies. They're angels on earth.

Is your brother sure about that name? It's super popular and the kid will probably end up with at least one other Ethan in his kindergarten class. I love the name, but had to cross it off my list for just that reason. My ex-BIL just named his son Ethan a couple of weeks ago.
I'm actually going with a more traditional name (David) for my little guy (did I tell you I'm having a boy?), but I think he'll be okay since it seems like everybody else is giving their kid some sort of trendy or off-the-wall name.
For Catfish, she can have my girl-name that I'm not going to be able to use - Rachel Ann. But of the names you listed, I most prefer Harper. I loved To Kill a Mockingbird - both the book and the movie.

Sophie and Jacob are my kids names! Well, our daughter's name is actually Sofia (with an f) - but we call her Sofie all the time.

Classic Irish would be Mary Catherine. My name is Mary and I married into a Scottish name and I absolutely love it.
I have always like Samantha for a girl though.
Graeme might be nice for a boy.

I like Stella and Lydia for girls. Ruby was one of my faves, but with a last name that starts with Red, it was out for us.

Yay! Congrats to Catfish! How very, very exciting.

We visited Tony's aunt in Boston last week and met her students (she's been teaching over 30 years) and I loved some of their very Irish names. Seamus (pronounced SHAY-muss) and Saoirse (pronounced SEER-sha) were too favorites. Saoirse means Freedom. I also like Siobhan (Shih-VON), which means God is Gracious.

I can't believe I wrote too instead of two in my comment. I'm so ashamed. I like Anon's suggestion of Tanner - I've always liked that name!
