Um

I helped a little. Just a little. More for my own sake.

Don't worry, I've set up a sterile, surgically prepared operating area and that's where I do my work.

It's all very professional.

I'll try not to again.

I CAN'T WAIT to see them all hatched and fluffy. I know they won't be fluffy right away but still. they are going to be sooooo cute!

Prematurely helping the chick hatch could cripple or infect it. Remember that after it has made a hole in the shell the chick stops piping for a few hours and rests while its lungs are getting used to the outside atmosphere. Humidity is critical at hatching time and you shouldn’t open the incubator until most chicks have hatched. Don’t allow your curiosity to damage your hatch.

What do mother chickens do? Do they peck at the shell or do they just keep sitting there on it?

It has to be torture, for you.

Oh the torture, I would not be able to sit and wait

Mother hens do not help them out. They just continue to sit on them until everyone is hatched out.
