Ashley's Infomercials

Someone is complaining that the audio book post I did should be labeled as "editorial coverage" and that it's not fair to make you all read infomercials without you knowing it.

So to clarify, with product reviews--I get nothing but the product (if I want it). So a product may get a sentence, a paragraph, or a whole post.

Big Kid LOVES Brown Bear, Brown Bear and you can bet if you send me a really cool product that both my children adore, you're probably going to get a pretty good review. Same thing happened with First Juice, my kids freaked over that stuff. We buy it now, and we'll be buying Batter Blasters from here on out.

There's no reason to label this as "editorial coverage"...no one paid me to do it and I'm providing an honest review. I will not, EVER, do a free product review on a product I wouldn't recommend to you all. I've actually turned free stuff down because I didn't have faith that I wanted to write about it.

So, you may have to suffer through a few infomercials in the future, but you haven't up until now. I am giving you my honest opinion when discussing these products, if I don't have a good opinion, you just won't be seeing it.

Who cares? I can't believe people take the time to complain about this stuff.

I think your reviews are going to be a great addition. I have been LOOKING for something like Mr Beams stair light, and without your review I probably would never have found it.
So thank you! And keep 'em coming.

I like reading Ashley...whatever you want to say. Sometimes it's funny, sometimes it's profound, sometimes it's just plain. That's why I like reading.

I appreciate the reviews...I have bought a bunch of Method stuff since that post. I feel much better about my household now. Thank you!

You could at least make the reviews more interesting by posing naked with the product.

I don't think that's asking too much.

There's always someone who complains!

I LOVE product reviews. I only wish some of the products like the Batter Blaster would make it to a towny grocery store here in Podunk, Louisiana.

...would love to see you do a PSA to grocers like Trader Joe's letting them know that we, way down here in gator swamp land, do appreciate the new world order of whole foods and fresh local goods just like the blue states. Thanks!

I suppose I missed the post where you solicited advice from your readers as to what to write on YOUR blog??!! hehehe

A chance to get free stuff and review it - sign me up! BTW - Brown Bear, Brown Bear; Polar Bear, Polar Bear; and Panda Bear, Panda Bear are three MUST reads each night for my 2-year old son.

I'm with Mama Kat. I think naked posing with the product is a GREAT idea. And no fair hiding behind the product, either.

The other comment reminded me you were the one that originally turned me onto Method. I love their products and never would of found them if you didn't post! Keep the infomercials coming!

I think it's good! I like to get others opinions on products! Which is why I love product reviews on websites so much! They are REAL! :) Thanks!

Dear Ashley,

This has absolutely nothing to do with your latest post... Just had to tell you:
As a fellow work-from-home mom (of one small 19-month old stalker and domestic terrorist, disguised behind utter cuteness) and I ride my own roller coaster of energy and emotions. At one particularly deep dip, my husband twittered your website and I actually checked it out for a change. Many many thanks for your gift of laughter. My husband thanks you too - It saved him from dealing with another melt-down. I could rant on endlessly but the bottom line is - you rock! Keep on twittering - love it!

No one gives me free stuff, and no one asks me to review stuff, but if I happen to find and love a product or store, I post about it on my website. In my opinion, I'm helping others to find stuff they might love, while also helping myself to keep that stuff around for me to buy. Face it, if no one buys the stuff we love, they stop making it, right? So, the more people we turn on to it, they more likely it is to stick around.

I would much rather hear reviews from someone who is like me than anywhere else. And, I'm also a faithful user of Batter Blaster, if that matters. I even wrote a blog post on it :-).
