One More Thing...

I have to add that I really like the increased comment activity around here. Did you see all of the comments on the milk post? Holy Cow. Half of them were from The Renee, but still. Speaking of The Renee, she pointed out that Udder is spelled incorrectly in the cow photo, super duper smarty pants that she is. I swear I knew that. I was testing you all and The Renee passed. Yep, definitely just testing you all. (Honestly I was too distracted by the cow's weird arms. Whoever did that could've done a better job IMO and the spelling just proves that).

Anymoo, I love the comments. Seeing them all lined up in my email box is like Christmas morning. Also, y'all some funny bitches. So keep them coming, it definitely brightens my day and I think it makes it more fun around here for everyone.

One more thing because I keep forgetting to ask you guys. I want to make Big Kid a trick or treat tote bag that says "Surrender the Booty" but Mr. Ashley thinks it is inappropriate for Hallelujah night. I don't think the Baptists are pervs like that, he IS going as a pirate. I could see if he was dressed like a disco pimp or Colin Farrell or something, but that should be fine right?

I'm going to make little kid one that says "little kid wants a cracker" since he's going as a parrot. Do you know it is virtually impossible to find a red long sleeved hoodie without Osh Kosh, Baby Gap or FUBU scrawled across the chest or Elmo on the sleeves? I'm hoping he'll keep a ski cap on and I can make the parrot head on that, but there's certainly no guarantee of that happening.

Also (I know, this is getting long), I want the little kid to have bird feet. I told this to Mr. Ashley earlier and he said, "and why would you want him to have bird feet??" because I guess he's not thinking Halloween 24/7. My original idea was to find bedroom slippers and cover them with scaly fabric and somehow make bird toenails but then I was thinking I could just have little yellow booties that would fit over shoes and have toenails on those. The problem is I cannot sew. I can Heat Bond. Well, I've done it once. I do have a sewing machine. Is this beyond my capabilities? If so, tell me like it is. I'm guessing elastic would be involved, and that's what scares me.

Maybe I should just stick with the bedroom slipper idea.

I think you could take yellow or orange felt sheets from Michaels or WM and use fabric glue to stick 2 sheets together but first cut out the shape of bird feet and make like socks out of them. But with pointy toes. 4 or so of them. Perhaps stuff them with batting. Is he wearing yellow tights?

Ohhhhh, yellow tights would be even cuter. I was thinking red pants but I like the tights idea. I bet Mr. Ashley will say it's gay but I'm going to try to do that. Where to find yellow baby tights?

Maybe try CDWkids.com or something. I'll be avoiding housework tomorrow so email me if I forget to help you look. My friend Ashley (obviously another one) is good at this stuff and she reads your blog so I bet she will help, too. She's dressing a shark and Shamu.

How 'bout something like this:

The slipper idea isn't so bad. If that doesn't work, just make little shoe covers out of felt. It's pretty easy to sew (or heck, maybe even hot glue) elastic on the back.

I think the booty bag will be fine. Who'd suspect the raunchy definition of that word from Big Kid?

Have you tried The Children's Place for red hoodie long sleeve shirts? I bought one in just about every color for my 8 year old...nothing on the front.

I'm hanging with you on the costume 24/7 thoughts. My guys decided last year they are too old to allow me to make their costumes anymore. Seems they remember years past as torture...ungrateful brats. :)

Love your blog.

OK, now I am chuckling at the picture of the Baptists opening the door to a darling pirate-costumed BK who sweetly chirps "BOOTY CALL!!" at them as he extends his plastic pumpkin. (Gawd-- "extends his plastic pumpkin even sounds a little dirty-- sorry BK!)

Love the Booty Bag idea - so cute to go with a pirate! Who would be offended by that?!!

I so want to be that cool, crafy mom that it sounds like you are. It's just not going to happen- I am going to have to continue buying the pre-made costumes and hoping the kiddos don't mind. I love your treat bag ideas! Post pics after you get them done!

I thought when pirates said "surrender the booty" they were looking for treasures & loot, not actual bootylicious babes. So my vote is YES, it's fine to use it-it's a cute idea, and if people see a cute little pirate looking for Halloween goods and his trick or treat bag makes them think of ASSES then they are the perv, not you.

How about "Surrender the Pirate Booty", then all your bases are covered. Check out www.talklikeapirate.com

It's appalling and sad that it's a grown-ups life, but you may get some inspiration.

Not that you need any...

Does Sesame Street have a line of costumes and junk? Maybe you could get some Big Bird feet!

Oh and the booty bag is totally cute.

OMG the bags sound great that is an awesome idea. We just got a children's place I think I am going today I will look and see if they have them.

PS I have this HILLARIOUS picture that my hubby took on his way home from Ill. in a Cracker Barrell parking lot, and since I know how much you LOVE good spelling this one would be great for your blog. I would tell you but then it would ruin it, just a hint it is a car that is attached to a RV and it has a sign in the window. but I have to find a way to get it to you.

Maybe I can give you my email in a commment and you not post the comment on here then I reply to you with the pic. I promise it is totally worth it. I also promise I am not a crazy person coach's wife knows me thru her old TN neighbor.

Ashley, there is an old Martha Stewart Kids maagazine where she makes a chicken costume, and to make the bird feet she put yellow rubber gloves over the kids runners. Try this link: http://www.marthastewart.com/3-tiny-creatures-costumes?lnc=bf89cf380e1dd010VgnVCM1000005b09a00aRCRD&page=3&rsc=articlecontent_crafts
Have fun!
