Damn

I owe a million people emails (if you're on that list, I'm thinking of you) AND I have several things to blog about.

Unfortunately, due to the absolute devastation of the real estate market here, Mr. Ashley has been doing some work on the side with a friend of his. Like manual labor. Like stuff that requires him to leave the house at 6:45 IN THE MORNING to go get all sweaty.

Do you even know how much this sucks for me? To wake up with the kids by myself? Deal with whatever poop catastrophes occur single handedly? Do all meal preparation, butt wiping, fight mediating and question answering ALL BY MYSELF??

I don't know how some of you do this shit full time. It is God awful hard.

AND he's going to Georgia this weekend. So I'll be home alone WITH BOTH KIDS all by myself all weekend long. This is a lot of time alone with these kids. I'm already forcing little kid back into two naps a day, just because he is a two person job.

This full time parenting crap isn't conducive to good blogging. Something's got to give.

I have one kid. I have one husband. I watch the clock waiting for said husband to get home from work (both on the days I work, and the days I don't) so I can have *help.*

Then I hear about military mom's and feel like a jerk. If my husband is gone for the weekend I am frustrated.

I'm not afraid to say I suck :)

If it makes you feel any better, the real estate market is devasted everywhere.

I laugh as I type that because I have been hit with it, but every time somebody says that to me it just pisses me off even more.

Um, yeah. My inbox has been overflowing with backlog since I became a mom. I used to be a keep the inbox clear sort of person.

Just set "Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you" as your signature so you don't have to keep typing it.

I have a post in me about military moms. TRUE American heroes right there, they don't even get any glory.

I'm aware of the rest of the country's market issues but it makes me feel no better. We lived in Bubble Land, went up 30% the year before last, and the reality of the mess things are now becomes more clear by the day.

I know a guy who had $8 million worth of real estate at the age of 27, who is now waiting tables and renting an apartment.

In a town where all wealth comes from real estate and tourism and seemed ever steady, it's still a little bit of a shock and a whole lot depressing.

Say it with me now: Real estate equity is NOT REAL MONEY.

I will admit, being a "military mom" is tough stuff. My husband was gone for 14 months and completely missed the terrible twos. (I'm pretty sure he planned it that way.) I look at it this way...I do what I have to do. I had no life while he was away, I could only have my alone time after Aidan went to bed (which explains her 7pm bedtime). It's never easy but you get used to it. That being said...I'm SO glad my hubby's home!

My hubby used to work a job where he was gone Monday through Friday, and only home on the weekends. Which I know is still better than what military moms have to deal with when their husbands are deployed, but it still totally sucked. I felt like a single mom, only without having to go out and get a "real" job, too.
Luckily, my hubby got a promotion and now works in an office from 8-5, M-F, and he here to cook and clean for me every night. And he doesn't come home all stinky anymore, either.

Another Military Spouse here! My hubby has been gone for 13 months now and will hopefully be home in July sometime. Unfortunately not in time for my son's 2nd b-day (the second he will have missed) but I'll take what I can get. It's hard but we deal with it because we have to. I'm extremely proud of my husband and what he does so I *try* not to complain too much.

Good luck this weekend!
