Tomorrow I Start

I believe I found daycare for little kid today!

The best part is, it's a policeman's wife and the cop was completely charmed by little kid. I think that this "in" with the police department could seriously benefit my little felon in the future.

Super sweet, wholesome couple. He was very talkative, total "good ol' boy", right up little kid's alley and vice versa. She is quiet, calm and nice. They live in a lovely home and little kid loved their one year old and I guess there is another boy who is little kid's age that comes three times a week.

This is a major step up from the place we went yesterday. Big Kid, the daycare critic, no longer felt the need to interview daycare providers because he really liked the lady we met yesterday and thought her house seemed fun. He was ticked that I would betray her by checking out someone else but as we were leaving today he said, "Dis is da best daycare yet. Dis is where little kid needs to be goin'. Dis is a good house, she is a good teacher." I agree.

We had stopped by a big corporate run daycare in town the other day and I was stunned by the number of kids in one room and the overwhelming stench of crap. As we walked to the car, I said, "I just don't know about this place" and Big Kid said, "Yeah, I know. I was really embawassed for dem 'cuz it dest smelled like poop so bad. We can't be leavin' him places dat smell like poop." I agree.

Driving away from there today I felt so at ease and little kid was in the back seat happily yelling, "Scoo mum, scoo". As we were leaving, I told him to give a hug goodbye, nodding to the one year old, and he turned and threw himself into the daycare lady's arms and gave her a trademark squeeze before turning and laying one on her daughter. They both loved it.

I warned her that if there's a Sharpie in the house he'll find it, or an opportunity for mischief he'll take it, and she said she can handle it. She'll only be watching him 2-3 days a week and I bet you anything he goes over there and acts like a total doll for her every single time. Freaking turd.

We then went to Wal-mart to get the rest of Big Kid's school supplies and little kid picked out the ugliest lunch box ever. Seriously. I don't even know if he'll need a lunch box, but he was so excited to be part of things that I let him get one. But damn is it ugly. I've got to get a picture of it for you, it's so "him".

Tomorrow is Day 1 of the big job. I've never been so excited about a job before. I'm nervous, semi-sick-to-my-stomach nervous, but also really excited. I'll be in all day training tomorrow and they invited me out for dinner afterwards. So that's a big day there. Then all day training Thursday, then a conference call on Friday morning (you know how much I'm looking forward to that) and Big Kid's meet the teacher on Friday afternoon.

Big Kid is excited about starting school and is hoping his new teacher resembles his new doctor, or at least has the same hair. I guess he is fond of brunettes with ponytails. Alrighty then. We'll see on Friday.

So the rest of the week will definitely be crazy and you all will definitely be missing me. You've been warned. I'll check in though, you know I can't stay away.

I'm glad you found a daycare provider you can feel comfortable with. And it's a major plus that BK has given her his seal of approval. You know he knows his stuff!

Good luck with the new job tomorrow. Not that you'll need it, but it's the polite thing to say. And I don't care how late you get in from dinner, you must give us all an update ASAP.

Okay. That's about it. Good night.

Good luck tomorrow! I'm sure you'll do fine. I suspect that the hardest part will be leaving little kid all day!

Can't wait to see a picture of the lunch box!

Congrats on finding a place! I think the fact that big brother approved means it's a good place!

We already do miss you, but it's time to let you spread your wings and fly (all the way to purchase our cruise tickets--LOL). I'm so glad you found a place you feel good about for LK. We'll miss all your stories about him, but I'm SURE he'll still find plenty of time to be sneaky with you! BK sounds pretty darn smart! He could run the show!! Good luck!! We've all got our fingers crossed for you!

Glad you found a day care provider that you feel comfortable with...I would have volunteered but after seeing in print what he is capable of, I decided against it. Besides, he may not have been safe with my son, who is the reason my daughter received four stitches in the ER last weekend. Here's to a great first day at your new job...it had better bring some great stories to the closet!

Good luck Ashley. I am glad that you found a daycare you like for little kid.

I worked at one of those daycare centers for a long time.

Wise choice.

I like the police mans wife. I like that she has handcuffs at her disposal. She may use them. Don't let that nice demeanor fool you. Cops wives are freaks.

I'm glad you found somewhere for lk though. And I'm glad you got BK's approval. I love him.

Good luck at the new place!! We'll be waiting for updates!!

Congrats on finding childcare for LK - I know that can be totally stressful. You're right he will probably be a angel at her house and she will never believe the horror stories that you tell her.

Good luck, Ashley! You'll do great!

Good luck at the new job!

The daycare situation sounds great. In my experience, kids are worst for their mother so LK will probably be good for her. Hopefully he won't inspire a new toddler version of "Scared Straight".

I wish you all the best! But you don't need it! You're going to do great!

It definitely doesn't hurt to have the law on your side! You're right, though, the little booger will be an angel for them, making them secretly think you're a bad mom when you tell them what he does at home. I get the same thing from my kids' teachers. Sure they're good at school - they're saving it for me!

GOOD LUCK on your first day! What are you going to wear?

Starting a new job is always nerve racking. You will find your comfort zone quickly though.

Since it's only a few days a week, lk will see this new great daycare as fun time. That must be a load off you!

Oh, you KNOW he is going to be a perfectly behaved child and that woman is going to think that you're just a bit on the crazy side...

I hope she doesn't find the blog and that coffee picture or laptop picture-did you remember to warn her to keep her laptop put away:)

Oh but I agree with you he will go and be a perfect angel never cry never cause trouble, nothing. I think this because this is my son he won freaking "Citizen of the Year" for crying out loud, there is only 1 of these given away in the class and she picked him. He was the best little boy ever she told me-WHATEVER come live with me then since you can get him to behave. He has them all fooled

SO glad you found a great place for the LK!

Good Luck! Not that you'll need it, I expect they'll break into Broadway style song and dance any moment now that they've got Ashley!
