Jobby jobs

I'm really, really tired, but just can't go a whole day without posting. I also have tons to post about, which actually makes it even harder. So we'll condense it into a list, because I like lists, and then hopefully we'll expand upon it all later.

1. Mr. Ashley got the job! Yay Mr. Ashley!! He starts on Monday and it's going to be great, we're all really excited. He will no longer be working from home, and he'll enjoy benefits and paid sick days and vacation time. Hooray!

2. I may get a job offer! I know, hold the freakin' phone, right? It's for a job I applied for months ago. I even followed up and got NO response. I had totally written it off and then some CEO calls me yesterday, and I called back out of curiosity, and not only is it for a job that is MADE.FOR.ME , but the salary and benefits are more than I would've ever hoped for and it's EXACTLY the bridge I need on my resume to qualify as a Writer.

I aced the phone interview. Seriously, no phone anxiety, great answers, funny, enthusiastic, endearing...you should have heard how long my "strengths" list was, I think she was sorry she asked. I feel very confident that if the final decision is up to her, it's mine. She said their local affiliate was doing personal interviews on the three final applicants next week, and that I'm one of them. Some of my answers were so good that they were met with a speechless "Wow" and by the end of the interview we were laughing and sharing our life philosophies (which are remarkably similar). She also mentioned several times that she loved my unconventional, and humorous, cover letter and resume and thought it said a lot about me. (she said this like it was a good thing)

So keep your fingers crossed. I was up until 5am this morning, my poor excited little mind racing, hoping, wishing, praying, planning, rinsing and repeating. I just couldn't sleep and then when I crossed that 3am threshold, I started panicking about my inability to sleep...a vicious cycle.

3. Our pretty blue eggs came today. Both shipments. One had three cracked eggs, and my dumb ass cracked another one during unpacking. Luckily both sellers sent extra, so I'm still ahead by 2. I spent all day at Gymboree letting the kids play, and then running around in the rain searching for a freaking water weinie because supposedly it will help me keep my incubator temperature more accurate. Water weinies are really easy to find until you need one, I might have to abandon that plan.

4. I don't know what else, but I'm tired and hopeful and have been productive. Everyone cross your fingers and keep them that way until my interview next week. I want it bad.

Congratulations to Mr. Ashley! And good luck to you! It sounds as if you kicked some ass and really impressed the CEO. You should be proud of yourself whether or not you get the job, but DAMN, I hope you get it!!

This is SUCH GREAT NEWS!! I am so impressed with how you both swung into action to get you through Mr. A's job loss and these lean times. I really hope this means the end of the scary part of poverty (wondering how you're going to pay the bills, no insurance, etc.) and the beginning of a great new chapter in your lives. I usually hesitate to use those sayings like "what doesn't kill us makes us stronger", but it seems to me that what you have gone through lately has made you both stronger and wiser. This is the start of something really good for you guys.

-The Renee

PS Fingers are crossed here.

Congrats to Mr. Ashley on the new job! No more being poor for you, so now you can start saving more for our cruise.

I can't wait to see the blue eggs. You must post picks ASAP!

And congrats on the possible job offer. As long as it doesn't prevent you from keeping us all entertained everyday, I hope you get it. Good luck!

Hooray for Every Ashley! Good Luck to the Mister!!

The job sounds great and I would hire you in one cute minute if I could. You would get to do what you do now, except you would get paid the big bucks. I don't have that kind of payroll just yet, but when I make it big (pretty sure that's soon), I will make you an offer.

Thank you for your listing abilities, they are powerful.

wonderful news! it's amazing how quickly blessings come when we learn to appreciate be happy with what we have. you did so well re-prioritizing and simplifying your life, and now that you will have "more", you will definitely not take it for granted.

heard this on the radio and loved it "if you aren't happy with what you have, why should God give you anything else to complain about?". so true.

jennyandcompany said...

ok, rereading my post it sounds like I'm saying that you didn't appreciate what you had before and that is totally not what I meant. I have a really crappy way of saying things. It really was supposed to be a compliment on how well you fared during the rough patch.

I'm really not a bitch. Well, maybe I am. But I like you and I'm not a bitch to people that I like. Except my husband. But only when he deserves it.

Ok, I need to go do something useful now. Feel free to think I'm a total ass, I'm sure you aren't the only one.

Ashley said...

LOL Jenny...I knew what you meant. No apologies needed, it's also exactly true the way you stated it the first time. As soon as we embraced what we had and learned to live with it, things began to turn around.

Ashley,
This is not related...
Do you see that amp; up there that is showing up in my comment name? What the hell is that and how do I get rid of it? Or is this a question for Sasha?
