Party Weekend

I have a little headache (read: hangover) this morning and am slow moving.

Yesterday, we were the people who had their kids out past midnight. We may have also been the people who stayed a bit too long, but oh well. They're family and we were having fun.

We went to Mr. Ashley's cousin's community block party. The association provided the meat and everyone else brought side dishes and desserts. (I just had to stop writing this to be the person who answers the door to her mailperson in her nightgown with crazy hair and a naked baby in her arms at 11:00am. Klassy.) There was music and fireworks that are just as good as downtown's and kids running around yards playing with sparklers and jumping in and out of pools. It was great and I had (too much) fun.

Today is Girl Crush's daughter's birthday party. I'm feeling slightly partied out at the moment, but Big Kid is rip roarin' ready to go. Yesterday when he woke up, I asked him if he knew what the date was. He thought about it a minute and said, "Is it July da forf?" with a big smile.

"Yes it is," I answered," do you know what that means?"

"Yes, dat means dat tomowo is the birfday!"

It's a good thing he remembered, because I almost forgot.

I'm not drinking today. Girl Crush and Mr. Girl Crush are the type who will try to twist your arm, in a friendly way, because they are just fun like that, but I'm going to have to decline, in an "I don't want to puke" way, because I'm just old and lame like that.

I'm also not planning on any swimming or standing or even looking very cute. Wish me luck with that. Hope you had a happy fourth and are having a lazy fifth!

I don't ever catch a break on the fifth. It's one of my best friends birthdays and she forces us to drink! I'm looking forward to the sixth.

Totally unrelated, but I'm such an idiot--I just realized it was YOU who commented on my methhead water incident and not my other friend Ashley. THANKFULLY I had a lightbulb moment, and when I realized it was you had a geeked-out-fangirl moment.

On another note, my favorite hangover cures include Chinese food (sesame chicken, mmm) and lots of orange juice.
