Raising Them Right

Once PBS Kids ends in the morning, some cooking and art shows come on.

Somehow, Big Kid is convinced that these shows are part of PBS Kids and I have to watch two hours of this programming (usually one cooking show, one artist painting clouds and trees show) before we switch to Nickelodeon for the afternoon.

Him and little kid were just lying in front of the television watching someone make Zucchini meatballs.

"Dose sure look good. Dey are little balls of hambughers wif da vegetables right in dere too. Dey took a cheese gwater and dest chopped 'em all up, put 'em right in dere wif da hambugher 'cuz it makes 'em juicy." Big Kid announced.

"Mmmmmm mmmmmm mmmmmm," answered little kid, enthusiastically.

"Our mudder will make does for us, little kid. And if she does not know how, we will dest teach her, or maybe even dest make 'em ourselves."

So you're having meatballs for dinner. Right?

I often wonder how many kids actually ask their parents to make stuff like that just because a kid on tv did it...hmmm...

I say BK and lk can cook tonight only if they do the dishes too.

Can we come eat dinner at your house? We're having frozen chicken nuggets. Again.

Glad to know my kid's not the only one addicted to cooking shows. Right after getting off the bus from 1st grade, she HAD to watch Rachael Ray and Sandra Lee's Semi-Homemade every damn day. Wouldn't be so bad if those two didn't make me want to claw my own eyes out. Yumm-o yourself, bitch! Meanwhile, my kid sits there slack-jawed and entranced...

Big Kid just cracks me up. My daughter probably thinks that design shows are children's programming.
We'll see where that one goes.

So, BK's making dinner tonight? Sounds like you get the night off.

Unfortunately, at my house, when PBS kids goes off, some really boring political show comes on and we must change the channel. No cooking shows here.

Well that's interesting. PBS here has kids shows from 8AM until 6PM. However, I LOVE cooking shows and early on my DD would say "They're cooking" and sign it for me!! Cooking shows are great for kids!

Don't allow them to forget that notion of making meatballs themselves. Encourage that thought. Train them now.

Too cute!

I could just eat Big Kid all up. Darling little boy. So far today my boys have knocked over a cart at Walmart, yes, all the way over. They have also dumped out a package of chips in a diner, broke toys in the car from crashing them together while I was driving and have said the phrase "Poo Head" more times than I can count. Sigh.

This is so funny! I love how he pointed out that the veggies make the meatballs juicy. What a trip!!

Can't wait until they actually are old enough to cook. These punks needs to earn their keep eventually.

Maybe we could get a BOGO special in culinary school... since my LK has decided that being a chef is not his thing. What do you think?

my kids LOVE them some Rachael Ray. My 4 year old chops as good as her now. lmao! She even gets out a bowl for our "garbage bowl" at each meal. =)

I too have an 8 year old addicted to the food network! Im crosing my fingers for the day she can actually be allowed near my kitchen and make me dinner for a change and I can in return say, "ewww, I don't like the way that looks, It does not taste the same way it did the other 100 times you made it!"

Since you are all, "in love" with Costco right now, you should buy their ground turkey. It comes in like an exuberant amount but wrap it in parchment paper and freezer bags then freeze it. Then you can make those "meat" balls anytime! Or taco's...etc!!
