I love that movie, too. A bunch of girlfriends and I went to see it in the theater when they had the special 20th Anniversary showing, and it was even more fun than watching by myself. I bought a $30-something onesie for Katie that read, "Nobody puts Baby in the corner." There was eventually a lawsuit over the onesie, but I already had it, so I didn't care. I'll have to email you the photo of Katie in the onesie. So cute!
When I was traveling several years ago, I was so excited to find that we were close to where the bridge scenes were filmed (forget where it is, NC?) My BFF and I went and took pics of ourselves dancing across the bridge. We tried to play it off as a goof, but I was really excited to be there. I love that movie.
I have to admit that when it first came out I was all "too cool" to see it. I thought it was just going to be a cheesy Patrick Swayzee movie. Then I saw it a few years later and... fell.in.love. Thanks for the flashbacks!
who doesn't love dirty dancing???? the movie is a timeless work of art and i could watch it a million times in a row. my hubs has never seen it and i try to explain to him what amazing pop culture greatness he is missing out on, but he just doesn't understand...men.
Tammy...how can you NOT love Dirty Dancing? I'm pretty sure that's against the law or something.
It's one of those movies that when I flip to it on TV, no matter if it just started or is 5 minutes from the end, I get transfixed and *cannot* stop watching it.
I know, I know, I'm a total freak of nature or maybe a communist but I honestly can't stand that movie.
For the record, I was born in the 70's and am a female. I watched Dirty Dancing for the first time in high school- think it was music class- female teacher of course. I've tried watching it since then and can't make it too far. No idea why, just not into it.
I truly can't be the only one who can't stomach this movie....can I?
I got your back Tammy..I think I was 13 when this movie came out & I have NEVER liked it (and I love Steel Magnolias & Fried Green Tomatoes) but this is one movie that when it is re-run on TV over & over I can't flip the channel fast enough to avoid any of the cheesy lines it is so famous for.. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree with the DD lovers in the closet before they all hate on us some more..
LYNDA!!!! How did I not know one of my bestfriends is a goddamn commie??? I'm having to rethink the last 15 years and see if I missed any obvious signs. How the hell can we go on like this??

Oh, and seriously, Jennifer Grey was SO much prettier before all of the plastic surgery!
NObody puts Baby in a corner! :)
When my 'lk' was little, dancing and rocking to the songs from that movie was the only thing that would put him to sleep some nights. :) Love it!
Nevermind about emailing you the pic. I posted it on my blog, so you can check it out there.
LOATHE that movie! Please put baby in the damn corner!!!!!
I'll forgive you for this moment of poor taste though, lol.
COMMUNIST ALERT. We have a communist in the closet, I repeat, a communist in the closet.
Tammy, when were you born? How could you POSSIBLY not like that movie if you're a girl?? Do tell. I'm fascinated by freaks of nature like yourself.
;-)
Seriously, Tammy, I don't know a single female from the age of 10 to 50 who doesn't LOVE this movie. What planet are you from?

Definitely one of the best movies ever made...

I love Dirty Dancing!! How can any woman not love that movie!? That is like saying you don't like Steel Magnolias or Fried Green Tomatoes!

We've made it through worse dear-and remember, we'll always have South Park..
P.S. almost missed your reaction..til I checked your blog @ work and saw my name in all caps on the side where you have "closet talk" posted
P.P.S. Don't cry baby...or i'll put your ass in a corner!
Yes I love that movie too. I'm so sad about Patrick Swayze's health problem right now.
I so hope he recovers (but I don't know what is keeping him here, pancreatic cancer is usually a death sentence).
Holleh loves the Dirty Dancing. I think I might have gone to see it with our Sasha.
Oh, Loverboy!
Holly
That was the summer I started wearing cut off jean shorts, just like Baby.
I love that movie too, and am so impressed at all of those who are not afraid to admit it.
And, Holleh, the "Oh, Loverboy" part gets me everytime, especially this weekend!
