RIP DVR

Our DVR/Tivo thingy just bit the dust.

DirectTV was one of the more unfortunate budget cut backs taking place, but it wasn't scheduled to be off until the 21st, and everything on our DVR was going to continue to exist.

But now we are suddenly without Tivo OR satellite television and it's a little panicky. I mean, I thought it would be a more gradual process and one that WE would be initiating. I thought somehow that would make the whole thing easier. I thought I would at least have my DVR full of satellite memories.

This is just too sudden.

Our dvr has purged itself twice on me. I want to hurt the dvr, tv, kids etc.

I am so sorry to hear about the death in your family. RIP Tivo!

I'm SO, so sorry for you. At least you still have all of BK's Baby Einstein DVDs. Okay, so maybe that's not such a good thing.

And with your poor relationship with Nazi Carmen, you can't borrow DVDs for free from the library, either.

That sucks. Although we have gotten desperate several times and needed to make cut backs, my DVR satellite is always the last on the list. I am not sure that my kids or my nerves could make it through a day that I could not play any requested show at a given moment. But at least you can entertain Big kid with Baby
Einstein. And you better get on good terms with the library so you can borrow a lot of movies for free.

But a question, so when they turned your service off, all the stuff in your DVR memory went away?

Do you want another one? I have an older TiVo that we're not using.

OMG! It's not a good night. Go grab a bottle of wine and soak in a warm bubble bath! Then go hide under your covers before anything else bad happens.

I'm. So. Sorry. As a DVR fanatic, I can sympathize. However, think of it this way.... DVR was just a waste of precious time you could be spending with us. Right?

AAAAAAHHHHH! Big Kid is going to freak the fuck out when he finds out that we actually have to catch shows when they're on. I was hoping to break it to him gradually.

Tara, you would be my freaking HERO, the new love of the Ashley Family's lives, if what you say is true. Email me please please please.

Lauren, I think it was hit by lightning. The box itself won't even turn on, and we had satellite until the 21st.

Why do I feel ENTITLED to hundreds of channels and on demand viewing?? I know it's wrong, but that's how I feel.

I'm so sad for you, I'm not even sure how to watch tv without a dvr anymore.
Time to start charging to read the closet. Who wouldn't give you a buck or two to get in? Really.

I don't know how I would go on.

Seriously.

Hugs.

I'm having a moment of silence for your untimely loss. It's just not fair that these things happen to good people.

I wonder how many kids will grow up thinking there is no way to watch TV other than record it first?

Too funny. I'm starting to feel really old.

That would be one cut from the budget that would hurt me hard.

I'm sorry for your loss. Maybe time will heal.
