More Trash Evasion

Remember, if you aren't throwing away trash...at least be drinking. Thirsty Thursday is free day, so you can drink whatever you want.

Re: Hair teasing. Honestly, I've never done it. Curly hair is crazy and scary enough without doing that to it on purpose. After Influenza08, I was afraid I was going to have to cut the knots out in order to brush it again. I had to lather it up with some deep conditioner The Renee gave me, put it in a bun, and use a wide tooth comb to try to get through it a few hours later.

So, I would just scrunch my hair, let it dry and then backcomb the crown of it?? Or what?? This won't do permanent damage?

Maybe I just need to find a banana clip or a scrunchy for some side ponytail action.

Also, I have no bangs, so the curling ironed, Aqua netted, tidal wave is out.

A mullet wig would be funny - for hubby if he is going.

I say mousse the crap out of your hair and then do a serious tidal wave on the front. Not a curling iron one...just shellack your non-bangs and blow them dry so they are high up in the air. (Can you picture what I'm saying? I have a distinct vision in my head.)

As for clothing, the Flashdance look is easy to do and does not require a trip to Goodwill. Oversized sweatshirt with neck cut off, bandana around forehead, leggings and legwarmers. and you'd be good to go.

I've been terminating trash and had a wee bit of a drink already (1/2 a margarita at lunch with hubby).

If you could find a banana clip that would be awesome b/c most people will do the side pony.

Don't forget the layering of neon, even down to your socks, alternating if possible.

You could always gel the crap out of the sides of your hair and dry them straight out... Do you know the look I'm talking about???? You hold the hair straight out from the sides of your head and blow dry it, but be sure to put gel in it and then spray, spray, spray the shit out of it while you are drying it. That would be a lovely 80's look. Ooh, I love costume parties, too!!!!

hi ahsley, just coming out of lurkdom to say hello and i really enjoy reading your blog, i get the best laughs from here! i have decided to take on your nlp:rd hoping that i can get this house organized or at least look that way. i am black so i don't know much about what you should do for 80's hair, but since you don't have bangs, what about that winged look like farrah fawcett?

Just have to comment to say that I can't believe banana clips are still available in stores! Unreal.

Well, since they are still available (wtf?!?!) you could pull the back up with the banana clip, but leave the front and sides of you hair out and still dry, tease and spray that part straight out over your ears... (Does that make sense or should I find a pic? I'm sure I could scan one of my own...) Totally rad look, trust me.

FLOCK OF SEAGULLS. ;)
An 80s classic!

I also saw banananananaana clips at Walgreens yesterday (or was it Wally World?)

Have to like add my 2 cents.
Banana clip the back, and then like, leavethe sides out, and the bangs bushy. Like, think of the woman with 17 kids and counting for inspiration.
If casual, I would like say wear a sweatshirt, with like a big "V" cutout. And then like very light colored jeans, which are then like tucked into a pair of scrunch socks, which of course are like worn on the outside of your pants. Make sure to do the tuck and fold first. Scrunch and then scrunch the socks some more until they are perfect. Make sure that they are like at the same height as well. If needed, add another pair. Then add a pair of white KEDS.
If it's more of a dressy party, I'd totally wear like a prom dress, with lace gloves.
Oh- and no matter what the dress code, blue eye shadow is a MUST.
And like maje sure to say like. All the like cool people do.

I am glad one of the other commenters posted about the different colored alternated socks.

Wet hair, upside down LOTS of mouse or gel kinda scrunch it then let it air dry.

OK so we should all have to promise to share our best 80's photo if Ashley promised to take a pic to share with us. Trust me I had the hair thing going on.

Really, here's all you need to do for 80s hair:

Turn your head upside down, spray hair spray on the hair all around your face, ear to ear, and then use your blow-dryer to cement it in place. Flip up and you are done.

So easy and so chic. That's totally how I rolled in the late 80s and early 90s. Cause I was just that cool.....
