Quiet Time

I told you all a while ago (months ago?) that I have been battling with little kid about taking 2 naps a day and how he thought he only needed 1, if even that, already.

Well, I don't remember the last time he willingly has taken his late afternoon nap since.

Every day at4pm, I lie him down, he cries, moans and yells for an hour...sometimes a little more.

I pretend I can't hear him and we call it quiet time.

*I* need 2 breaks a day. Period. Non-negotiable.

I just wish he'd stop fighting it and disturbing the peace. It totally puts a damper on quiet time.

(I have to win this war, I really do.)

New reader here just dropping you a line to lavish praise on your hilariousness. Not that this post is all that humorous but previous ones have been. Keep up the good work and I will keep up the good comments!

Uh - I'm confused. Is Ashley commenting on Ashley? Not the same person, right? Come on now, lets not confuse the blondes any more than is necessary!

Waaahh.. This has absolutely nothing to do with what you've written in your entry.. But why can't I get pac man to work on my myspace?
I thought I was going to be so cool.. just got a myspace and was going to have pac man on it for people to play.. and it won't work! What am I doing wrong???

Oh.. yeah.. I love your blog too I really do. But I'm so heartbroken I can't have an awesome myspace.

Yes...two Ashleys.

I even read her blog to be sure and the similarities are eerie...down to being hilarious, using potty humor, desperately wanting a girl and having a Cash (I've posted about this before, if I'm cursed with a 3rd boy, that's his name...drug dealer name or not)
I saw a picture and she's not me. She is also cute though.

Freaky.

Bacon...I don't know enough about myspace, but is there somewhere to insert html code?

Pacman *IS* important. We will try to help.

This happened to me too- We just dropped the morning nap and she went down at 1pm for the afternoon nap and it worked. Maybe little kid is just overtired and that's what's making it difficult in the afternoon.

Is the space bar back, or do we all owe Mr. Ashley a thank you for allowing you to use his computer? On topic, though - I miss naptime!

Dre, you owe me pretty much...forever. I know that you know this.

Ami, I have been taking forever to write each post by digging my fingertip into the censor where the spacebar used to be. It is not easy or fun, but I'm getting better at it.

Right now I'm at Mr. Ashley's computer but that is usually not an option.

Nicole, glad my misery as a SAHM helps you pass the day at work ;-)
Helps remind you why you go, huh?

Anonymous, between you and me, sometimes I think he just does it to be a jerk. Or he officially outgrew two naps a day months ago and I'm a jerk for forcing him.

Either way, it's a lot of racket...

Yeah, get rid of nap 2. Then the noon nap after lunch will last at least 2 hours. That's how it works here. So I eff around for an hour and take an hour nap. Then someone relieves me at 6:00 to give DD a bath, then I put her to bed.

I say keep him on the two naps atleast if he is not sleeping he is not writing on anything with a Sharpie, or picking all the keys off your keyboard. Plus we need you more than he does:)

BTW the other Ashley will have to get a new name because my brain can't handle it and I get confused.

my little dude gave up all naps when he turned 2. it makes for some very LONG days with both kiddos. it makes me a big "crazy". lmao.

breaks are good. especially when you use them to entertain us.

I have to agree with Dre, drop the 2nd nap and you can usually get a longer 1st nap out of the deal. My sweet little monster gave up the 2nd nap months ago, but now takes 1 3 hour nap a day.

We tried to reinforce the 2 nap a day rule and it ended up causing her to wake up at 4am. She won that battle!

Have you tried putting a basket of board books and safe toys in his crib? This might encourage him to play until he falls asleep. I admire you for trying to hold out on that 2nd nap. My dd gave her 2nd nap up around 1 year and then her 1st nap was only an hour and she was horrible at night...now I look back on it and know she was overly tired. I should have tried to keep the 2nd nap a bit longer, but dh loved to bitch and go save her from her nap! GRR! He knows better the 2nd time around!! I'll open up a can of whoop a** on him if he tries that again. Funny how we have to train all our "kids".
